The new SD-01. As good as anything out there, at a price everyone can afford™.

The new, 3rd Generation SD-01 is a refinement of the original SD-01 design and see's improvements through the bag.

USGA & R&A test results show this to be the longest Seed we've ever produced, maxing out at 306 yards.

Enhanced overall performance by improving ball speed, increase in distance through the bag and an improved softer feel for more responsiveness off the club (particularly the shorter clubs and putter).

To do all that we developed one of thinnest urethane covers in golf, at just 0.0275" thick (ProV1 is 0.0300" by comparison) and a new, faster core that we've dubbed SeedSpeed.

What does all that mean?

Well, this ones the perfect combination of distance, feel and short game spin.

Here are some of the features of the SD-01 3rd Gen:

  • 3-piece Tour construction (like a Pro-V1)
  • Larger 'SeedSpeed' Core
  • Ultra Thin 0.0275" Urethane cover
  • Thinner, more responsive mantle layer
  • New urethane cover formulation for softer feel

Love the feel & behaviour of the ball although the outer surface maybe not quite as resilient as comparable balls
Still won't stop me buying again

Distance

Great feel and spin particularly around the green but lose some distance from the tee

Just like a Pro V1 or Bridgestone BX

I had tried the original SD-01 two years ago, but honestly I found it had two very significant issues a) it felt very hard off the club; particularly with wedges and putter, there was a real absence of feel, even with a forged head and b) it scuffed incredibly easily - one trip to the sand and you were looking for a fresh ball, and even if you did manage a round with it, it was wasn't making two - the economies dont work if you're having to use 2 or 3 balls a round.
Despite the promos I have avoided until Seed ran a promo featuring a free Sunday Carry Bag, which looked pretty cool; I just had to order 6 x dozen balls. Well, as we were having a pre-wedding golf day and I had 19 mates along, it was a good reson to buy 72 balls and dish out a sleeve to each player. Everyone who played them, loved them - the new Seed SD-01 does play like a Pro-V1 (apparently) but it definitely plays like a Bridgestone BXS and BRXS, which I usually play. Lots of feel, lots of control and great of the putter and what's more after 18 holes, it was pristine - it's a huge step forward on the old SD-01. And at £30 a dozen not £50; theyre staying in my bag for a little while longer - not sure I'll switch from the Bridgestone altogether as I've playing them for so long. But the SD-01 is a serious competitor.

Not impressed

Bought 12 after reading the comparison to pro v1, lads stop comparing these balls to the prov1 they are nowhere near the prov1 quality, you're lying to customers
